Salary: £60,000 – £80,000 (depending on experience)

The Opportunity

A reputable Northwest main contractor specialising in commercial fit-out, refurbishment and M&E works is looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to strengthen its commercial team.

 

The business operates across the office, education and wider commercial sectors, delivering Cat A and Cat B fit-out projects ranging from £500,000 up to £6.5m. With a strong pipeline of work and a commitment to quality delivery, this role offers long-term career progression and the opportunity to take commercial ownership of multiple projects across the region.

 

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior QS seeking a stable, forward-thinking business with autonomy and responsibility in their role.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial management of projects from initial tender through to final account.
• Prepare, review and manage project budgets, cost plans and cash flow forecasts.
• Procure subcontractors and suppliers, including preparation of tender packages and evaluation of returns.
• Negotiate, agree and administer contracts in line with company procedures.
• Manage valuations, applications for payment, variations and change control processes.
• Produce accurate monthly cost reports and update forecast final accounts.
• Monitor commercial risks and opportunities, implementing actions to protect project margins.
• Undertake site visits to verify progress, assess subcontractor performance and support cost assurance.
• Work collaboratively with project managers, site teams and the senior leadership team to ensure successful delivery.
• Provide mentoring, guidance and support to junior members of the commercial team where required.
• Maintain strong communication with clients, consultants and supply chain partners to uphold the company’s reputation.

 

Requirements

• Proven experience operating as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within construction, fit out or refurbishment.
• Strong technical knowledge of commercial processes, contract administration and cost management.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Confident communicator with strong negotiation and client-facing skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Construction related degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel to sites across the Northwest.
